I know that the speed sensor on the transmisson is bad. Took the car to a mechanic who read the error. They wanted 142.00 to replace but local auto parts store got an aftermarket one for me for $50.00. I can do the work myself, but what I need to know or to see is a picture of this particular part. There are two of them one is non gear driven and one is gear driven. Even providing the VIN number to the dealer they couldn't tell me which one was needed. So I ordered both but no matter where I look I can't find when on the tansmission it's located and thus my issue. Can you please tell me which sensor I need and then how to replace it? I have a 2002 Ford Focus SE 5 speed manual transmission 2.0 L.

There are several speed sensors, to make sure you get the right sensor, get a repair manual. You might find a free repair manual here: http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info or go to http://bit.ly/alldata_repair_manuals or http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online and get an online repair manual subscription.

Lack of torque converter clutch application. ... .
Check Engine Light is triggered. ... .
An internal electrical fault in the speed sensor. ... .

Are there 2 speed sensors?

A car has two speed sensors: the ISS and the OSS, working together to show the transmission data to the car's powertrain module. The ISS sensor monitors the input shaft's speed.

How do I check my speed sensor?

Disconnect the sensor from the housing on the transmission, as indicated in the repair manual for your car. Disconnect the sensor's wire coupling. Using the multimeter's voltmeter connect the probes to the ground and reference wires in the connector. If no voltage is received, the sensor is faulty.
