How much does a 2022 range rover cost

The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover is an excessive SUV, but a high-quality, luxurious one, too. If you love having the best, and you want a reliable, stylish and high-end SUV, then the 2022 Range Rover just might be the perfect SUV for you.

Yes, the Range Rover is a good luxury large SUV . A quiet and refined cabin provides decadent seating for five, while any of four engine options – two turbocharged straight-six-cylinders and two supercharged V8s – get you where you're going quickly. Fuel economy is good for the class, on-pavement ride quality is supreme, and few off-road scenarios prove even the slightest challenge.

However, the Range Rover trails most classmates in cargo space, and many rivals offer more composed handling. Additionally, the much-derided Land Rover InControl infotainment system makes an unwelcome appearance.

Should I Buy the Land Rover Range Rover?

A combination of power, elegance, and off-road fortitude is hard to come by, and if you like the Range Rover's all-around appeal, it's worth considering. But the choice becomes a little murkier when you realize you'll be hard-pressed to spend less than six figures on one.

For less money, you can go with a rival that has all the luxury appointments of the Range Rover or offers more user-friendly technology, more cargo space, or a third row of seats.

Land Rover Range Rover Versus the Competition

Land Rover Range Rover vs. Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport competes in the luxury midsize SUV class . The Sport offers a third row of seats and costs tens of thousands of dollars less than its sibling, but you'll find almost the exact same engine lineup in each vehicle, as well as a comparable list of features, superb off-road abilities, and a posh interior. The standard Range Rover offers a little more cargo space and more extravagant seating features.

Land Rover Range Rover vs. BMW X7

The BMW X7 is a relative newcomer to the luxury large SUV class . It doesn't rank near the top of the segment, but its low base price, standard seating for seven, and straightforward technology make it an attractive option. The X7 has more cargo space than the Range Rover, it handles with more agility, and its top 612-horsepower trim is faster than any Range Rover model. When it comes to off-roading, however, the BMW can't hang with the Rover.

Range Rover Interior: Great for Relaxing

Range Rover Interior Quality

The Range Rover's cabin is top-notch. All materials are impressive, and there are numerous customization options for things like seat upholstery, dashboard and door trims, and headliners. You'll find supple leathers along with high-quality wood and aluminum, all wrapped up in a contemporary design.

Range Rover Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

The Range Rover's infotainment setup is housed in two 10-inch touch screens that control many of the vehicle's functions. Though it looks cool and futuristic, it's not very user-friendly. It takes some time to learn how to adjust common settings, which can prove distracting while driving. Furthermore, the screens are sometimes slow to react to your inputs and commands.

  • Standard infotainment features: two 10-inch touch screens, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a 13-speaker Meridian stereo, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, and multiple USB ports
  • Available infotainment features: a 19- or 29-speaker Meridian surround-sound stereo and a rear-seat entertainment system
  • Additional standard features: tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic roof, ambient interior lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, and proximity keyless entry
  • Other available features: a household-style power outlet, an Activity Key wristband, cabin air purification, power soft-closing doors, a center console refrigerator, four-zone automatic climate control, multicolor ambient interior lighting, and cabin air purification

Range Rover Cargo Space

The Range Rover has less cargo space than nearly all other luxury large SUVs . Behind the second row is 34.5 cubic feet of space, which is enough room for several suitcases. You can fold down the rear seats to open up 70.9 cubic feet of space, but note that the seats don't fold completely flat. That may prevent you from loading extra-large cargo that would require a perfectly boxy area. Long-wheelbase models have a maximum of 77.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

This Rover is unusual in that it has a split-opening liftgate. The top half opens upward like most other SUVs or hatchbacks, while the bottom folds down like a truck tailgate. The outward extension of the bottom half can make it hard to lift in heavy items or to reach deep into the cargo hold.

How Many People Does the Range Rover Seat?

The Range Rover SUV is a two-row, five-seat vehicle. Accommodations in both rows are impressive, with expansive outward visibility for the driver and lots of room all-around. However, you might wish for plusher seats, especially on long-haul trips.

The second row offers ample head- and legroom, even for taller people, and you can upgrade the cabin with features like reclining and ventilated rear seats. In addition to its standard five-person layout, the Range Rover is available with a two-seat second row.

The most welcoming version of the Range Rover is a long-wheelbase outfit that offers an additional 7.5 inches of rear legroom. Its nearly 47 inches of second-row legroom is more than almost all other vehicles on our site.

Range Rover and Child Car Seats

There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat.

Range Rover Performance: Better in a Straight Line

Range Rover Engine

Land Rover offers four powertrain choices for the Range Rover. Lower trims come with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine that feels perfectly punchy, even if there is a bit of turbo lag at initial throttle. The standard 355-horsepower engine propels the Range Rover from zero to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds, while a 395-horsepower variant allows a 5.9-second zero-to-60 sprint.

The other side of the coin is a supercharged V8 engine that gives the Range Rover stellar acceleration. Available in 518- and 557-horsepower configurations, the V8-powered Range Rover goes from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

All models feature a silky smooth eight-speed automatic transmission that rattles off well-timed shifts.

Range Rover Gas Mileage

With its six-cylinder engines, the 2022 Range Rover is one of the most fuel-efficient luxury large SUVs . Those models get an EPA-estimated 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The supercharged V8 models get between 13 and 16 mpg in the city and 19-21 mpg on the highway.

Range Rover Ride and Handling

True to its luxury directive, the Range Rover provides a pampering ride, even over rough pavement, and the standard air suspension soaks up bumps and shocks without issue. Despite its size, this SUV is easy to maneuver in tight spaces such as parking lots or in city traffic.

The Range Rover's bulk is more evident when cornering hard, as body lean can be noticeable. It also takes a more concerted effort to drive on the highway, where you may have to make corrections to account for a somewhat floaty ride.

Range Rover Off-Road Performance

The Range Rover is the flagship SUV of the Land Rover stable, and while it's the most opulent of the bunch, it doesn't sacrifice any off-road prowess. You can tackle most types of terrain thanks to standard four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, and the Terrain Response selectable driving modes: Comfort, Dynamic, Eco, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Mud and Ruts.

The optional Terrain Response 2 system automatically chooses the appropriate mode for your driving. Also available are a locking rear differential, low-speed off-road cruise control, and wade depth sensing.

The Range Rover can ford up to 35.4 inches of water, and it has a maximum ground clearance of 11.7 inches.

Range Rover Towing Capacity

This Range Rover SUV can tow up to 7,716 pounds, which is about average for the class.

Which Land Rover Range Rover Model Is Right for Me?

The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover comes in four main trims: base, Westminster, Autobiography, and SVAutobiography. There are four engine options, which mostly correspond to different trims and which we detail below.

We think the Westminster is a good pick. It packs an additional 40 horsepower compared to the base model, as well as extra features, all for a (relatively) modest price increase. However, the base model's peppy engine, long list of features, and numerous options make it a good choice too.

You may want to hold out for the fully redesigned, next-generation Range Rover, which will also be sold as a 2022 model-year vehicle. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover starts at $92,000 and comes with a 355-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder engine.
