But this Friday Favorite is not like any of the others, it’s a Fiery Friday Favorite, the first of its kind — and we truly don’t believe anything else can top it. The Paqui #OneChipChallenge is back for 2020 and it’s daring the bravest spicy fans to take on a bite or two (or the whole chip) of this tortilla chip. Are you up to it or need more details? And beginning Sept. 22, you can also purchase them online, while supplies last. How spicy is the #OneChipChallenge chip?Think of the spiciest food you have ever had and multiply it by three. When I said I “sort of” accepted this challenge, is because I instead enlisted my husband and brother to battle it out. I love hot sauce, spicy nuggets, and hot chips here and there, but I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of spicy food. That said, I just knew I would not survive this challenge! Besides, it was a lot more fun watching (and filming) my husband and brother hold back tears. The site and chip label advises that you wear gloves when handling the spicy chip to avoid getting any powder on your skin or eyes, and be sure you wash your hands with soap and water immediately after. If I barely made it through those, imagine me taking on the challenge. No thanks! The latest feat of physical strength to make its way around the internet is the 'One Chip Challenge,' a test that involves consuming the hottest chip in the world - a snack from Paqui Chips made from the Carolina Reaper pepper. Among those brave enough to try it is Shaq, who completed the challenge on live TV. Watch him eat the chip in the video above. Shaquille O'Neal took on the challenge as a bet against his co-host on Inside the NBA, “Chuck, I’ll bet you $20 USD I bite a chip, won’t even make a face.” True to his claim, Shaq did not make a face - though a violent coughing fit may or may not have violated the terms of his bet. Aptly named “The Reaper,” the 2022 tortilla chip is spiced with the Carolina Reaper Pepper and Scorpion Pepper which both register nearly 2 million blazing Scoville heat units. The rules of the challenge are simple yet stinging: Eat the entire chip, wait as long as possible before drinking or eating anything for relief, and post the reaction on social media using the #OneChipChallenge hashtag.

To prevent cheating, this year’s chip even turns players’ tongues bright blue. "Each year, the team here at Paqui raises the bar and develops an intensely thrilling challenge that pushes the fearless to their limit," said Brandon Kieffer, Paqui Senior Brand Manager, in a statement. "Fans be warned, this year's chip isn't for the faint of heart and there's no cheating the test. While Paqui’s website cheekily boasts that the chip was “created for the shocking pleasure of intense heat and pain,” it isn’t all fun and games. Considering the Carolina Reaper holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s hottest pepper and is bred to be 100 times spicier than a jalapeno, the capsaicin-cursed chip challenge has a history of casualties including multiple hospitalizations for post-consumption symptoms including loss of consciousness, seizures, and intense vomiting. How long does the world's spiciest chip last?THIS CHIP IS SERIOUSLY HOT! Initial goal was to attempt to hold out for 10 minutes after eating the chip before drinking or eating anything. Was able to last 30 minutes although I wasn't expecting to. I believe that my preparation was key.
