Best xbox one rechargeable battery pack reddit

I got a Series X for Christmas and I've already gone through a few batteries.

It has been my biggest complaint for a long time that we don't get rechargeable batteries, and with the Microsoft play and Charge kits out of sale just about everywhere, what would yall recommend?

Edit; I appriciate all the passionate opinions. I think what ill do for now is get the Razer charge dock, since they make one to match my 20th anniversary controller. I will try to track down a Microsoft Play and Charge Kit when they are not so expensive anymore, and eventually ill try to get a series 2 Elite controller.

Thank you everyone for all the awesome advice, you all rock!!

Best xbox one rechargeable battery pack reddit

Hello everyone, I wanted to reach out to this subreddit on what would be the best rechargeable battery kit for Series X/S controllers.

I've bought Microsoft's plug and charge kit and it stopped working after a month, and I had the same issue with it on Xbox One, so I've already ruled out getting one of those again as they just don't seem to last long for me to make the money worth it.

Yep, I had a 3rd-party charger with my 360 and it was fine, but ever since the Xbox One and now the Series X I've been using rechargeable AAs and would never go back. Honestly as good as Eneloops are you don't even need those. I had some Duracells that lasted 6 or 7 years before I replaced them. I now have eneloops and amazon basics. I'm glad Microsoft stuck with AA batteries with the series X even though a lot of people bitched about it.

Edit: I checked the MS Play and Charge and the batteries are 1310 mAh (and I imagine 3rd party are about the same). Rechargeable AA batteries are usually 2000 to 2500 mAh each, so 4-5000 mAh total since you use 2 at a time, so rechargeable AAs should last 3-4 times as long per charge.

Edit 2: I was wrong about how long the charges last. See u/raph_84's comment below.

I prefer AA batteries over the rechargeable built-in batteries. Any day I'll choose AA. If dualshock has an AA option I'll choose that.

Batteries degrade over time so if the lithium battery built-in starts to decay so does your playing experience. You'd have to charge more often.

If I am playing and the battery is low, I do not need to stop and charge the controller. I'll just slap on a new pair of rechargeable AAs and I'm good to go.

You can use your controller for a very very long time because of this. I had to replace dualshocks in the past because they can no longer hold a decent charge.

eneloop. there's no substitute for them. they're not battery packs but rechargeable batteries and if you ask anyone on here they will rave about them.

bonus: you can use them for anything you need batteries for in your house. you'll get more for your money.

Amazon has a four pack with a charger for $20. It's a great deal for the best batteries on the market. I put a pair in my controller on launch day, then proceeded to play a shit-load of battlefield. A week later I changed them while looking at Battlelog, which said I had put in 32 hours that week. 32 hours on one pair of rechargeables. Amazing.

Eneloops are Awsome, but if getting decent batteries get a proper smart charger to go with them, well worth the initial outlay, almost all my kit and sons noise makers toys are on eneloops now. Far less swapping and old toys still have charge when they are used. Really worth the effort.

But Microsoft says

While you can use standard AA (LR6) batteries in your Xbox One Wireless Controller, standard rechargeable AA batteries are not recommended.

For the best results, use the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit (sold separately), which comes with a custom-designed rechargeable battery and a USB charging cable.

and

For the best performance, rechargeable AA batteries are not recommended.

Is this just bullshit to sell their own rechargeable battery pack?

Do the eneloops charge through the controller via the usb cable?

This is the best answer for sure. I love mine and they last forever.

The xbox play and charge kit works really good for me

I saw another thread that their battery died out on them really quickly. I'd just like to say I bought mine in March and I've had to recharge my controller every week or a few days. It gets the job done and I like it a lot. It's a must have accessory for the xbox one.

But after hearing about thes rechagable enloop batteries I'm thinking about buying those and giving that a try.

I picked it up at Costco for $12 a couple of weeks ago (I believe it is still on sale right now there) and have been really loving it. The controller fits nicely on to the dock and haven't had any issues with the battery running out while playing a game.

If you have another controller then I would say the energizer 2x charging system. If you only have one controller then the xbox charge kit is the way to go. This way you can continuously play without having to switch out batteries.

I'm going to hold on to this thread when Halo comes out. I think I'm buying another controller and this would help me out a lot.

I got the Nyko as a gift and its nice since when I am not playing I throw my controllers on the cradle for storage and to charge. I have yet to run out of a charge.

after years of using rechargeable batteries, I've had 3 moths with the official play and charge kit and its really good. Last a good 20 to 30 hours between charges

100% eneloop as others mentioned. Really great batteries that last for ages.
