A quiet place part 2 rotten tomatoes

2018 saw the release of "A Quiet Place," directed by John Krasinski. Any skepticism about a comedic actor writing and directing a horror film was quickly put to rest upon the film's release, which saw a massive amount of praise — it has a near perfect Tomatometer score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was also a box office hit, making over $300 million worldwide on a $17 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

The gripping film follows Evelyn (Emily Blunt), Lee (Krasinski), and their children, who live in a world where much of humanity has been wiped out by blind monsters with hypersensitive hearing. To survive, the Abbott family must live in near silence and rely on American Sign Language for communication among themselves.

Considering the critical and commercial success, it only makes sense that the film would receive a sequel. Production began soon after the release of the first film, with Krasinski writing and directing once again. As reported by Variety, "A Quiet Place Part II" was originally going to be released in March of 2020 — and even had its world premiere in New York City that month — but was postponed due to COVID-19.

The sequel centers on Evelyn and the kids as they continue their fight for survival after Lee's death. Forced away from their home and into the unknown, they soon discover there are more threats in the world. With May 28 fast approaching, the critics have watched the film, and the reviews are out. Here's what Rotten Tomatoes has compiled for "A Quiet Place Part II."

The tomatoes are fresh off the truck for Part II

"A Quiet Place Part II" proves that John Krasinski's success was no fluke. Alonso Duralde of The Wrap calls it "as riveting if not more so" than the original. With a Tomatometer score of 90%, the sequel trails the first film by only a few percentage points, which is more than some sequels can say.

Critics are praising Krasinski's skills as director. The Wrap credits the "riveting" nature to Krasinski's growing "confidence and skill." In agreement, IndieWire's Kate Erbland writes, "As his chops as an action and horror director have only increased, care of those natty set pieces and plenty of real ingenuity, Krasinski hasn't lost sight of the human drama that makes it all work."

Some reviewers believe the sequel is not as strong as the first. Justin Chang of The LA Times, for example, called the film "viscerally effective" but claimed that ultimately it "seems content to reiterate rather than build on its predecessor's revelations." Scott Mendelson at Forbes, while calling it "well made and worth seeing it in theaters," noted that it felt like "set-up for spin-offs and further sequels."

On the other hand, a few critics had the opposite reaction, calling it even better than the first film. One of those critics is Edward Douglas at Below the Line, who writes, "By building upon the way the original movie transformed the simplest of premises into a groundbreaking horror film, 'A Quiet Place Part II' manages to create something even more terrifying and unforgettable."

Although there are a few detractors, it looks like "A Quiet Place Part II" is guaranteed to satisfy even the most ardent fans of the first film. We've got just over a week to find out for ourselves.

  • A Quiet Place Part II Is Certified Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes

The sequel to John Krasinski's acclaimed horror-thriller, A Quiet Place Part II is being critically appreciated on the same levels as its predecessor.

The reviews for John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II have started coming in and the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes has revealed the film's opening Tomatometer Score. According to the first official reveal, the aggregator site has certified the film fresh with a 91% rating based on the first 20 critic reviews, which is slightly lower when compared to the original movie which received a whopping 96% rating on the site against 380 reviews.

A Quiet Place Part II follows the story right after its predecessor left, with the remaining members of the Abbott family, Evelyn, Regan, and Marcus leaving the compromised compound to make a struggle for a new life out in the wilderness for themselves and the newborn child of Evelyn and Lee. There they meet Emmett, another survivor hiding from the creatures, and realizes that there are more threats out there, far more dangerous than they have encountered.

The previous film's take on horror-thriller films, which relied mostly on expressions and acting instead of dialogues was well appreciated. Directed by John Krasinski, the previous film's success led Krasinski to expand the world he was trying to explore in the first film while giving out a visual "love letter to his children". Emily Blunt leads the cast with Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Cillian Murphy, the latter of which star in a new role. The film will also feature Djimon Hounsou in an important role. John Krasinski, who directed and led the first film, will once again helm directorial duties for the sequel and would also star in a supporting role, where his character would be featured in some flashback sequences. The film will probably delve into the invasion of the creatures on the planet in this film.

A Quiet Place Part II was significantly delayed as the pandemic hit right before the film's release last year. Since then, the film was delayed twice before settling for a May 28 release date. The film will run on theaters for a shortened run and will eventually be made available for stream on Paramount+ after 45 days of release.

Seems like A Quiet Place Part II is setting up a good follow-up and is living up to the standards and hype the first film has already set in among the audience, as good reviews are pouring in favor of the film. The critical consensus over the film on Rotten Tomatoes read,

"A nerve-wracking continuation of its predecessor, A Quiet Place Part II expands the terrifying world of the franchise without losing track of its heart. Read critic reviews."

The film currently awaits public release, who'd be enthralled to finally experience the thrill John Krasinski left us with in the first movie. There are also reports of a spin-off being planned with Jeff Nichols set to write and produce it. The spin-off will be inspired by Krasinski's original concept around the setting of A Quiet Place, but no immediate update on its development is available as of yet.

Is a quiet place Part 2 worth watching?

[But] everyone is very good in it. The kids, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, really are the stars here. A Quiet Place Part II doubles down on what made its predecessor so popular, delivering another ridiculously riveting feat of horror filmmaking from John Krasinski.

Is A Quiet Place 2 Creepy?

Parents need to know that A Quiet Place Part II is the sequel to 2018's hit horror/monster movie A Quiet Place. Violence is fairly gory and graphic, though most of it is directed at monsters (heads exploding, etc.). A child's leg is caught in a bear trap, with a bloody wound; he screams in pain.

Will there be A Quiet Place Part 3?

This confirmation came during a Paramount investor day presentation where writer and director John Krasinski announced that A Quiet Place 3 was officially a go. Whether John Krasinksi will be back at the helm, we'll have to wait and see, but announcing the sci-fi series return is a good start.

Why is A Quiet Place so good?

Strong characters and relatable themes While A Quiet Place was a horror and escapist film, it also had substantial character development, and themes like grief saturated it. Both Evelyn and Lee, the couple played by Krasinski and Blunt, are hanging on to the idea of family since there is nobody else left.
