I need to replace the crankshaft position sensor on my 2012 avenger but I don't even know where its at. Can anyone point me in the right direction. And are the Any special or important steps I need to follow. Thank you

NOTE
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located at the rear of the cylinder block, near the transmission.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Remove the heat shield retaining bolt.
  4. Remove the heat shield.
  5. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector from the crankshaft position sensor.

  6. Remove the crankshaft position sensor bolt.
  7. Remove the sensor.

The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is mounted into the right rear side of the cylinder block.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle (Refer to Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting - Standard Procedure).
  3. Push back the heatshield (1) from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.

  5. Remove the sensor mounting bolt (2).
  6. Carefully twist the sensor (1) from the cylinder block.

  7. The CKP sensor O-ring (1) can be reused if not damaged.
