Fixed the issue of intermittant hard shift on the 4t65e trans

2009 impala 3.9L, friends complaint was long soft shifts and slight slipping on takeoff from a stop. Found the epc solenoid to be bad after connecting a pressure gauge to the pressure port and found low line pressure across the board when doing a pressure test with a scanner and commanding different amperages and comparing to a pressure chart. There was also a range where the pressure stayed at 110 psi across a 400 milliamp range when commanded, which definitely says its not a pump issue. I pulled the sidecover after lowering the subframe and replaced the epc solenoid with this acdelco part along with a new filter and fluid. I cleared the TAPS or shift adapts with the scanner. Hooked up pressure gauge again and did line pressure test and all pressures were within the specified range. Took for test drive and thr shifts firmed up nicely and no more slipping from a takeoff.

This fixed my transmission, it was lurching into gear from a red light, and slipping, after I replaced this my tranny pressure went back to normal and it sucked the pan dry, I had to add 2.5 quarts of transmission fluid to fill it back up!! CHECK YOUR FLUID IMMEDIATELY AFTER REPLACING A DEFECTIVE PRESSURE SOLENOID!!! My car thanks you AC Delco. Another symptom was a very slight chatter noise coming from my tranny valve body. Also when it was below freezing, and car was not warmed up yet, issue would be most pronounced

I wasnt pulling a code but from what i read it was long shifting that i was experiencing. This was not an easy job to do in the slightest. I hope you know what your doing when you go after this. I am not the most experienced but luckily i had a lift of sort to drop the whole cradle to get enough clearance to get the side pan off. Still took me about 9 hours to do. However this part fixed my issue and i recommend it. Do the shift solenoids while your at it. They are in the same spot and will help immensely.

This actually fit the transmission that it was listed in the description. However it arrived so late I got a refund and got to keep the product. Not very good compensation for losing a pissed off customer that I will probably never see again due to the tardiness of the delivery.

I find this to be the #1 cause of that "max adapt long shift" code that sets in the 4T65E transmissions. If the shifts are mushy and sluggish and after awhile the shifts turn hard and is accompanied by this code, I would take that side cover off the transmission and replace this thing. If you are installing a used transmission, replace this part before you install it into the car.

It was a problem in these transmissions for many years, and in 2003, they re-designed this part a bit, but experience is says that this part never got improved. It just needs replacing every 100k or so.

Buena refacción. Lo único preocupante es la forma en que empaquetan este tipo de refacciones. Al ser eléctricas deben tener más cuidado. Esperemos funcione mucho tiempo. Excelente

Where is the transmission pressure solenoid located?

In most cases, solenoids are located inside of the oil pan, connected to the valve body. Depending on what you drive, the technician may be able to replace just the failed shift solenoid.

What happens when a transmission solenoid goes out?

An inability for the solenoid valve to operate may prevent your car from downshifting, and the engine will continue to rev as you attempt to brake. You may discover that the transmission will not shift out of neutral, as the solenoid is not receiving the proper signals or opening enough to shift the transmission.

How much does it cost to replace a transmission pressure control solenoid?

The overall cost to replace the shift solenoid in an automatic transmission ranges from $200 to $500 for a single solenoid. If the damage requires you to replace the entire solenoid pack the cost increases to between $250 and $700.
