2015 Chrysler Town & Country Show Asked by in Cole Camp, MO on July 16, 2018 Original problem: dead battery. Jump started to get home to replace battery but Van started revving high and acting like it can't go in gear. Changed battery, still revving and acting like a problem with transmission after new battery installed. No symptoms at all prior to the battery going completely dead then jump starting it. Could the low/no voltage from the old battery have caused the TFPS to fail? I read somewhere that even a moment of no power to the pcm could cause driveability issues, as in a battery with too little charge while driving? Really frustrated with this, as I have always had my van serviced and maintained at the dealer I purchased from without fail! If they are doing 27 point inspections with every oil change, they should have noticed any issues. Please help as I am not able to drive it to the dealer and don't want to have it towed if it's something I can fix. Also note there are 113,000 miles on the van, but cared for meticulously! You can start by scanning the car for codes. Post up the trouble codes and we can help but ultimately I think you will need to bring this in for a full diagnosis.
Guess I didn't mention in my post, but I DID scan for codes! First time I got 7 codes: P0731, P0732, P083B, P084B, P0733, P0734, P0846. After writing these down, I cleared the codes, then tried driving down my driveway and back, but the same "transmission type" problems happened again and the check engine light came back on, all within a minute or two. Scanned for codes again but only got 1 code: P083B - Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor Switch G Circuit Range Performance. This is why I'm wondering about checking the TFPS. Don't WANT to have to try this myself but at this point I'm looking at having to tow it 30 plus miles to dealer, and need to know if this is the problem first because usually the first thing they jump to is "you need a new transmission". I always take my vehicle to them for service/maintenance, but everybody knows the dealership doesn't make money on oil changes and tire rotations! Add to that the fact that mine has only just passed the warranty period, and you can understand my trepidation! I'm still convinced that my dead battery (which was jump started 3 times before I could get somewhere to test it) caused a glitch in things and maybe affected a sensor or something. There were absolutely NO issues or symptoms prior to that happening! Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Discussion Starter · #1 · Sep 19, 2015 my wife has 2008 Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L and engine light is on. Per the autozone scan, it is the transmission fluid pressure sensor. I purchased the trans solenoid pack assuming it had the same transmission as the 4th generation. I went to replace the pack and it wasn't where I expected based on the videos I saw on YouTube. After some further googling, I

This may or may not be the correct sensor but I found what appears to be a 62te shop manual and a reference to a line pressure sensor (LPS). Scroll way way down to figures 467 468:

It would be a shame to go to all the trouble to change this sensor and not have a fix.
