I was told mine needed replacing by the dealership that I bought it from 2 months ago. It's not very noisy at all and when it does begin to while it is only when turning the wheels all the way and it doesn't really whine that loudly then. It is also not burning or leaking any fluid that I can tell. So, I'm not real sure why they are saying to replace it. I guess since it is not performing 100% they said it needs to be replaced. It is on my to do list but not a priority. AudiWorld Newcomer Thread Starter

Transmission issues? Differential? Motor mounts? Rear main seal? I'm just throwing some random things out there. Thanks. AudiWorld Newcomer Thread Starter

The original owner followed all maintenance schedules recommended by Audi. He always had it serviced by the dealer whenever a light came on. We were able to get a copy of service record from the dealer. Most miles were freeway since he had to commute for work. AudiWorld Super User

I hope it will prolong the life of pump and the rack& pinion. Because I had to replace rack and pinion on my old car and it was pretty expensive. AudiWorld Newcomer Thread Starter
Join Date: Mar 2018 Posts: 4 Likes: 0 Received 0 Likes on 0 Posts Ok so I got the job done. For ease I put the front in service position. Had to buy a set of triple squares. Remove the serpentine. Remove the polley. There are 3 bolts holding it on. This gives you access to 2 bolts for the power steering bracket. Remove those. Next I removed the a/c compressor out of the way. From here you can undo the low pressure fluid hose. You can get to the high pressure here or come from the top since the front of the car is repositioned. There are 2 more bolts for the power steering bracket here as well. Take the whole bracket with the pump out. Swap pumps. Than go in reverse. I had to look up pics of the bracket so I knew where the bolts were. Audiworld Junior Member
