Show Good morning, That is the only location for the sensor. I attached a general picture of the location. It has to be along where the camshaft turns to pick up the revolutions. From the cam. Roy Some possible issues for the code. P0340 Image (Click to enlarge) SPONSORED LINKS Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:38 AM Thanks Roy. From the car it has one each from each side at the front. There was a time the car came up with p1110 and it refers to those front ones. After fixing it it gave P0340, which indicates camshaft sensor. All the videos on YouTube shows it has been at the back of the cylinder for other truck, but this 2001 pathfinder 3.5L does not have any at the back, yet the car goes on and off while driving it. I am frustrated. Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:44 AM I would not rule out a timing belt issue. Codes never identify bad parts just failed systems. I understand but I would get a scan tool and make sure there is a signal from the sensor to the PCM. Roy Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:46 AM The car use chains not belt. Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:48 AM The car use chains not belt SPONSORED LINKS Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:48 AM Got it, but they could still be worn and the crank and cam signals could be out of sync. Roy Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 5:58 AM Though the chain makes some noise, could it be the cause? Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 6:34 AM Yes it could. You need a scan tool that can read live data to see if that signal is not the same as the cranks sensor. Roy Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 7:15 AM After a while, I coupled the engine, crank it severally, it starts but goes off in few minutes and it takes serious cranking before it comes on again. I re-scanned and it is showing P1110, the P0340 had disappeared. What can I do? Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 10:22 AM The 110 is also for the sensor. You need a scan tool. If you do not have one then I suggest having someone check it for you. Roy P1110 Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 1:08 PM I have and Odb Ii and it is the tool that shows all these codes. Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 1:20 PM Is it a code reader or an advanced scan tool that can read live data? Roy SPONSORED LINKS Monday, February 4th, 2019 AT 1:21 PM I think it is a code reader. Can you suggest a better one? Please give me a name. Thanks Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 AT 6:39 AM The advanced tools are expensive. They can run thousands of dollars. Snap on, Tech 2, Autell, are among a few. Roy Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 AT 8:55 AM Copy! Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 AT 12:44 AM But from what I heard and learnt, the 2001 Pathfinder do not have cam sensor at the back like others but only those two fixed at the front. Any objection to this? Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 AT 12:46 AM Heard from who? There needs to be a signal for the cam position for the PCM. Roy Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 AT 2:08 AM Okay, if in doubt, please I need the exact location its fixed. I want to change it ASAP. Please help Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 AT 4:37 AM I sent you the picture of the location. Both Alldata and Mitchel show the same picture, same location. Roy Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 AT 1:51 PM What are the signs of a failing Cam sensor? If your vehicle idles roughly, stalls frequently, has a drop in engine power, stumbles frequently, has reduced gas mileage, or accelerates slowly, these are all signs your camshaft position sensor could be failing.
Where is my camshaft position sensor located? The Camshaft Position sensor is typically located in the cylinder head of the engine and has a cylindrical portion that inserts into the head. The Crankshaft Position sensor is normally located in the timing cover or on the side of the block with a cylindrical portion that inserts into the block.
Where are the 2 camshaft position sensor?Where is the Camshaft Position Sensor located? The Camshaft Position sensor is usually located in the cylinder head of the engine.
