Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, Modern Warfare 2 is the ninth installment of the Call of Duty franchise and a sequel to COD: Modern Warfare.

The game is currently available in beta, and it will be released for everyone on October 28. It can be played on different platforms including Xbox, PlayStation, and Microsoft Windows.

Since the game is in beta, many players have encountered several bugs with it in the recent past such as not receiving beta codes on Xbox, getting stuck on checking for updates, and more.

And now, many Modern Warfare 2 players are reporting (1, 2) yet another issue with the video game where the campaign is crashing for them.

The new MW2 Campaign is looking good so far in my eyes but its non stop crashing for me. Also Warzone is effected by this for some reason. Dunno if its down to the servers cus my pc is literally far above requirements to run. Please fix @InfinityWard (Source)

Fortunately, we have come across some potential workarounds that may help you temporarily fix this issue. You can check them out below.

Workaround 1:

EDIT: Fix is to turn any settings that have to do with cache to on. Lowering other settings as well. Ram test had zero errors. Overwatch 2 crashed A LOT, but after an update it completely stopped – I think it may be poor optimization on IW’s side.
For the record my relevant specs are:

– 3080 Ti (not overclocked)
– Ryzen 7 5800x (not overclocked)
– 32GB DDR4 @ 3200mhz (not overclocked) (Source)

Workaround 2:

A YouTuber has suggested some troubleshooting steps to fix the crashing issue on COD: Modern Warfare 2. You can check it out below.

If the aforementioned workarounds aren’t helping you fix the crashing issue, then you can also try restarting the mission as it has reportedly worked for some of those affected.

Unfortunately, support hasn’t yet acknowledged the issue with COD: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign crashing. And we hope that devs fix it soon since players can’t access the game.

10:18 am (IST): A Redditor has suggested that they have managed to fix this issue by restarting the mission in safe mode.

I put it in safe mode and than restarted the mission. Not the cp but the mission. Worked like a charm (Source)

04:15 pm (IST): Here’s another workaround that can potentially help fix the crashing/performance issues during the second mission.

just power through that hall way, go inside the room and SHOOT THE LAPTOP PLAYING HASSAN’S RECORDING!! As stupid as this is, it actually fixes it my FPS jumps back to a stable state.

Update 3 (October 27, 2022)

05:05 pm (IST): Completely removing the display drivers using a tool named DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and then reinstalling the latest drivers helped fix the crashing problem for some players.

i also had random crashes and reinstalling with DDU fixed it so far.

Also, it’s worth noting that the new NVIDIA drivers were released around the same time. That means it could be an issue with the drivers as well.
