Hi IMBB readers! How’s the weather over where you are? Where I am, summer is already in full swing and I’ve found myself arranging my fragrance collection into two piles—summer scents and non-summer scents. The latter being perfumes that are too heavy, sweet, floral, or anything I can’t bear to wear in hot weather, and the other pile, the summer fragrances, being citruses, and light, uncomplicated scents that make me feel cool and refreshed. Last month my lovely aunt from the US came for a visit and gave me some goodies, most of them stuff from Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret. One of the new fragrances added to my collection was Bath and Body Works’ Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau de Toilette. Japanese Cherry Blossom Perfume Its top notes are: Asian Pear, Fuji Apple, and Ume Plum. Its heart notes: Japanese Cherry Blossom, Butterfly Lily, Kyoto Rose, Mimosa Petals, and Hedione. And its base notes: Vanilla Rice, Imperial Amber, Silk Musk, Cinnamon Incense, Himalayan Cedarwood, and Creamy Sandalwood. The Eau de Toilette is priced $29.50 for 2.5 fl oz at the Bath and Body Works website. My bottle came in a set with a travel-size lotion in the same scent and is in a smaller size, 1 fl oz. I actually find this size very convenient, and cute! It fits easily into my smaller bags and should last me some time, plus I actually might be able to finish it up, unlike my 100ml perfume bottles. 1 oz bottle of BBW Japanese Cherry Blossom EDT Perfume bottle uncapped It starts out as a light combination of fruits and florals, pleasant and feminine, and after a few minutes my nose detects the addition of spices, then it eventually dries down to a slightly spicy, unisex scent of amber, sandalwood, and vanilla. I don’t find it heavy at all, and when I’m dressed all girly I prefer using this fragrance to sort of balance out my look with its hint of spice. I’ve tried a handful of Bath and Body Works’ fragrance mists, but this was my first time to try their Eau de Toilette. While the lasting power is better than that of the fragrance mist’s, it’s not a very big improvement and only lasts about two hours on me. The Japanese Cherry Blossom scent is also available in various other forms and I’d love to have a bottle of the shower gel to layer with my perfume. I bet it would smell lovely and rich during a cool shower! I thought I knew what I liked, but it’s always great to explore different fragrances and be surprised, like I did. I would recommend Bath and Body Work’s Japanese Cherry Blossom perfume to those looking for a simple, casual, affordable oriental or floral-oriental scent light enough for warm weather.
