The Dual Admissions Pathway is a partnership between Malcolm X College and the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC).

Malcolm X College students can earn their Associate Degree in Nursing while also completing UIC’s RN to BSN degree completion program fully online. This flexible, affordable program puts students on track to earn two degrees and begin a nursing career.

Enrolled students don’t complete this program alone; students are supported by their peers, creating a sense of community and fostering collaboration. They also receive support from mentors and advisors from both colleges to ensure successful completion.

The field of nursing is experiencing a shortage of leadership, as more experienced nurses retire and leave behind key roles in management. Filling those roles will require a new generation of registered nurses to further their education and advance through the ranks. The College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago is a top-ranked nursing program committed to creating nursing leaders and now offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree Completion Program for currently licensed registered nurses. This bachelor's program is:

  • Online, with no residency requirement, enhancing your ability to juggle your busy schedules. Practicum experiences are designed to be completed in your region.
  • A 30-credit hour program that can be completed in as few as 16 months. Each class is 8-weeks long.

Most students who apply to our online nursing degree have already satisfied some or all of the needed prerequisites as part of their Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or other college-level coursework they have taken. On average, most of our students only need to take four to six courses beyond their ADN and/or RN licensure in order to complete the prerequisites and apply for our program.
