  • We are pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Derbes as the new Chief Deputy Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, effective July 5, 2022.  Mr. Derbes has been a co-managing member of The Derbes Law Firm since 1995, with experience in Chapters 7, 11, and 13, as well as bankruptcy appeals.  Prior to his experience in private practice, Mr. Derbes was a Captain with the U. S. Army Judge Advocate Corp for four years.  He has a Juris Doctor from the Marquette University School of Law and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Washington University.

  • The Court announces the selection of Denise Fredricks as the new Clerk of Court of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Before joining the EDLA Bankruptcy Court, Ms. Fredricks served in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, starting her federal career in 1984 as a Docket Clerk. She has been progressively promoted since then, ultimately serving as an Administrative Services Manager in Shared Administrative Services for the District Court and U.S. Probation Office. Denise joined the EDLA Bankruptcy Court in May 2018 as the Chief Deputy Clerk. Most recently, Denise has served as the Acting Clerk of Court since October 2021. We congratulate Ms. Fredricks on her new appointment.
