Comments: Note: I am not sure about how spoilerish my comment is as I have read further than Tapas and browsed the raw seeing pictures. I think it is just a general genre direction as I wrote that for those who are worried, but to be safe I put a spoiler tag. Finally, the official translation of this manhwa is released (Tapas)!! I have been waiting for a long time since I found it early this year. It is a story about a count family who tries to keep their family together and protect the family. The father and the mother have problems, mainly miscommunication and ego that led to misunderstandings, but they genuinely love their son very much. As mentioned in the description, rumors and unwelcome 'guests' come to tear and destroy the family. We see how they try to work, fight, and clean their name, while also growing to become a better family. Warning: The early episodes are very angsty because we see the situation from the son's point of view; it actually hit me, an angst lover, very hard because of how relatable it is to the reality I know. After about 10 episodes, it becomes much less angsty as we see more backgrounds and the father and mother's perspectives. There are occasional angst, but some scenes are wholesome and funny. Then as the story goes on and we understand the situation more, it introduces some possibilities of more complex situation about what is happening around them and hence the mystery tag. Personal rank: it is my 2nd favorite OI or OI-adjacent in terms of characterization after "What It Means to be You". Although it is not 100% its focus, The Count's Intruder touches marriage and family problems so the theme is rather mature. I really like seeing how their relationship grow (after a while I found them cute despite their flaws) and their effort to protect each other, and I am 100% rooting for them. And it might be controversial (I stan for Winter lol), but I love the Fildete family here. Closing: The Unwelcome Guests of House Fildette is a story with flawed and very humane characters. If you cannot stand such characters, don't like angst, or are looking for badass characters, fluff, or romance, I suggest to stay away from this manhwa. But if you don't mind some angst, looking for flawed characters and relationships that develop over the story in about realistic ways, a family drama, mystery, or story with mature theme, I highly recommend it to you. |
