Back To Top Are there two Smithsonian Air and space museums? One Museum, Two Locations
The National Air and Space Museum has two locations: one in Washington, DC and one in Virginia. Both locations are open every day except Christmas, and admission is free for all.
Why is the Smithsonian Air and space closed? The museum, on the National Mall in Washington, has been closed since March, and the west wing has been closed for extensive renovations since 2018. The east wing is now closed and undergoing similar upgrades. The seven-year project is expected to be finished in 2025.
Is the Air and space museum worth it?Very good museum of air travel history, even if you aren't American it is still interesting, with real planes on the ground and suspended from the ceiling and all manor of related items, uniforms etc. If you are a US citizen it will probably mean a lot more to you and you will spend more time reminiscing over things.
How long does it take to go through the Smithsonian Air and space? Please note that the trip takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes each way, and that visitors spend an average 2-4 hours at the Udvar-Hazy Center.
