TillyReviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020 5.0 out of 5 stars This movie touched my heart - and made me giggled/laughed, tooVerified purchase I love Tyler Perry's movies. He introduced to me the life of black people... the sad moments, the success stories, the betrayal, the discipline of kids, etc... if I really think about it, asides from the history of Black Americans, the family dynamic, relationships, work... all are very similar regardless of the color of your skin. What I love about this movie is the friendship of a wealthy, generous, caring and skin-colorblind white lady and a hardworking black lady who runs a diner to care for her family. I also love the way this black lady cares for this homeless white man who lost his job, wife and kids. When someone treats you well, return the kindness is the greatest gift of all - which is a lesson of this lady with the diner taught her daughter. It captured that people are people, regardless of the color of our skin. Life is about give and take, and don't judge someone for you might perceive of them until you know the story behind that person. We can all build beautiful, trusting, and caring and loving relationship regardless of skin color and culture. In order for any relationship to work, it takes both parties to equally invest into the relationship with an open heart. This movie also captures success requires hard work and the support of your love ones. Yes, sometimes there are challenges to get kick-started, but persistent, hard work and having integrity, it is possible and this is what is great about this country, American has so many opportunities. Sometimes it seems impossible, but being determined and believing in yourself will help a lot. Being extremely wealthy is great, but the best part of being wealthy is being able to help others and to share the wealth. I have watched many Tyler Perry's movies. Madea series are my favorite because I love how Madea doesn't hesitate in disciplining the kids who would turn out to be good and successful adults. This is the most important part of parenting that seems to be lacking in the younger generations today. Of all of Perry's movies, this movie is by far my favorite. It captures so much love between a beautiful friendship of 2 people of different class and race. Anyone who has a friendship like the one captured in this movie is SO blessed. I hope one day, I'll have one like this one. 19 people found this helpful melissaReviewed in the United States on July 17, 2022 5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie!!Verified purchase Best Tyler Perry movie to this day CleverCatReviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022 5.0 out of 5 stars Great moral to the story.Verified purchase I was hesitant about watching this movie because I'm not too fond of Tyler Perry's movies; however, I definitely love Colored Girls. What this movie does well is dissected a ton of intertwining relationship dynamics from marriage to friendship. Great dialogue, and I love Kathy Bates. It keeps you wondering until the end, and tons of bombshells are revealed. I’ll admit, I have never been a fan of Tyler Perry (just not my cup of tea), but The Family That Preys is by far among the most memorable of his films that I’ve seen. I greatly enjoyed it when it first came out and because my hubby loves it even more than I do, I decided to gift him with the DVD (he literally watches it once a week). Not to mention, I am a huge fan of Kathy Bates so having her to star in this film alongside the equally amazing Alfre Woodard was like money in the bank for me. 9 people found this helpful See all reviewsWhere can I watch the house that preys?Tyler Perry's the Family That Preys, a drama movie starring Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, and Tyler Perry is available to stream now.
