Video Review & InstallationThis Smittybilt Overlander Roof Tent is for those of you that have a 1987 and up Wrangler and are looking for a roof top tent that is both compact and packed full of features. A roof top tent's gonna be for those of you that do that overlanding style of wheeling, or just do some camping and want an easy-to-set-up tent. As I said before, this thing does have a lot of features, is pretty large inside, and sets up very, very simply.As far as roof top tents go, there are some that are all over the spectrum pricing wise. I do think that this one is pretty fairly priced for what you're getting, and I think it's going to be a very useful addition if you do that type of wheeling. As far as materials go, this is made of polyester, stainless steel, aluminum, all very high quality, very strong and also lightweight components. This is going to be a roof top tent that will install on any type of roof rack that you might have. It's going to install very easily and as I said before it's going to set up easier than any other tent I've ever used. There's just a couple of straps that you have to release, then you can unfold this thing. It has a ladder, allows you to crawl right up inside, and it does come with a two inch foam mattress pad on the bottom of it already installed. Nice and easy, again the setup could not be any simpler.As far as features go, this thing has a ton of them. This is going to have a couple of straps that go directly to the center of the main frame mechanism, and those are gonna help you to climb in and out of the tent when you're going up and down that ladder. Of course it does have that ladder, which is going to be something that'll make it easier to open and close the tent, and of course give you easy access without the need for any additional ladder. It's going to be a telescoping ladder, so it folds up nice and tight as well.This has an LED light on the inside of it. It has a USB plug so you can power this off of a 120V power source with a USB adapter or with any USB charger that you might have for your cellphone. This also has a 12V plug, so you can plug your cellphone charger into it. You just run that through the tent down into the vehicle plugging it in and picking up 12V down there.This is going to have a couple of different rainflies on the outside of it. It has sunroofs built right into it, so you can get plenty of ventilation, plenty of light when it is daylight. Again, it has a ton of features, it's a very well built piece, and if you're looking for a roof top tent, I think this is going to be a real nice option.As for installation, I'm giving you this a very simple one out of three wrenches. This is going to attach onto your traditional roof rack with the included hardware, the included bars. It has four attachment points that's going to make this a very secure piece. There's a little bit of additional assembly as far as getting the ladder attached onto the outside of the tent as well, but those are really things that you're only going to have to do one time, the first time you get this mounted up. After that as I said, setting this up could not be any easier. You just unfold it and attach a couple of spring poles for your rainflies and you're done. Very, very simple to set up.This roof top tent will run you right around $900 and I do think that's gonna be a pretty fair price for what you're getting. There are going to be roof top tents out there that are more expensive. Some are gonna be larger, lighter weight, have additional features, but for what you're getting here, and for a roof top tent that is as packed full of features as this one is, I don't think $900 is a bad price.You can also get some add-ons for this if you do need a little bit of a additional space. So this is going to be something that's modular, it can grow with you and it's going to be a really nice addition if you do that overlanding or camping-style wheeling.So if you're looking for a roof top tent that's packed full of features, I think this one from Smittybilt's a really nice option to take a look at, and you can get it right here at extremeterrain.com
