How do you multiply decimals by powers of 10?

When you multiply a decimal by a power of 10, all you need to do is move the decimal point! as an example. For each zero in the power of 10, move the decimal point one place to the right. Since there are 3 zeros in 1,000, move the decimal point in 12.7 to the right 3 places.

How do you multiply and divide by powers of 10?

To multiply by a power of 10, simply move the decimal to the right the same number of places as the exponent or as the number of zeros. Example: To divide by a power of 10, simply move the decimal to the left the same number of places as the exponent or as the number of zeros.

How do you multiply and divide by 10 100 and 1000?

When we multiply by 10, 100 and 1000 we shift the digits to the left. One place left for 10, two places left for 100 and three places left for 1000. When we divide by 10, 100 and 1000 we do the opposite and shift the digits to the right instead.

How do we multiply decimals?

To multiply decimals, first multiply as if there is no decimal. Next, count the number of digits after the decimal in each factor. Finally, put the same number of digits behind the decimal in the product.
