If you're having trouble hearing people on your iPhone or your calls are uncomfortably loud, you can adjust the in call volume on the iPhone. If you are using a headset or earphones with the phone, you may separately be able to adjust the volume on the headset or earphones. Show In Call Volume on iPhoneIf you need to change the volume settings on your iPhone, you can do so while you're on a call, by using the volume buttons. They're located on the side of the phone, and the top button makes calls louder in volume and the bottom button makes calls quieter. If you increase the volume too much, other people may be able to overhear your calls, and loud noises can damage your hearing. You may need to raise your call volume if you're in a noisy environment or the person you're speaking to is speaking softly. Note that the volume buttons will control app volume if you're using another app to listen to music, watch a video or play a game. If you're not in such an app and not on a call, they can be used to tweak your ringer volume. If you're having trouble hearing calls, you can also try cleaning the receiver area at the top of the phone. If it's dirty or clogged, it may muffle your hearing. Cases can also muffle the sound on your phone, so if you're having trouble hearing and using a case, consider removing it. If you're still having trouble hearing people on the phone, restart your phone and make sure it has the latest version of iOS. If that doesn't help, contact Apple for help. External Speakers and HeadphonesIf you're using earphones, earbuds or a headset with your iPhone, it may have its own volume controls. Make sure you adjust the volume on your headphones to a satisfactory level as well as the volume on your phone itself. If you use headphones with multiple devices, you may have to adjust the volume level between devices to compensate for different volume levels. Remember that your phone won't use its normal speaker and microphone if you plug in headphones, so you may have to unplug them to make or receive a call using the normal equipment on your phone. Similarly, you may have to disable your Bluetooth connection if you have Bluetooth headsets connected to your iPhone. You can do this by tapping the "Settings" app, then tapping "Bluetooth." If the volume on your iPhone is too low, you may not be able to hear audio output from your speakers or headphones.
