How to remove battery from kidde carbon monoxide detector

Product Description

The Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector, AC Plug-In with Battery Backup, CO Alarm with Replacement Alert, model KN-COB-DP2, plugs directly into any AC wall outlet, while 2-AA batteries provide reliable backup detection of carbon monoxide, even during power outages. CO is often called the “invisible killer” because you can’t see it or smell it, and in large concentrations it can be fatal, so having working carbon monoxide detectors is vital. The compact design means that when you plug in the carbon monoxide detector to a standard wall outlet, you'll still have space to use the second outlet.

When the CO alarm detects carbon monoxide gas, 4 loud beeps will sound to alert you to the danger and a red LED will illuminate. The CO detector also features a Replacement Alert, which chirps 2 times every 30 seconds to indicate that it's time to replace the detector. For whole-home family detection, place one carbon monoxide detector on each level of your home and outside each sleeping area. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL 2034.

*Based on total household installations as of December 2021.

No mounting bracket

I don't even know how these work, because we haven't been able to mount them. There is no little mounting bracket included, and judging by the other reviews, this is a frequent problem. If you want to buy this, put the batteries in, hang them up and be done - this is not your product. Now we're waiting for Kidde to send the brackets through the mail. Batteries are included, so there's that.

Hello DeeGee,
Thank you for your input and we apologize that the mounts were not with the unit.

Simple install & wireless (not WiFi) interconnection works very well.

Easy to set up! Glad I made the switch to these. They work together when activated. I even put one in the garage in case something happens in there while were sleeping. If it detects smoke or carbon monoxide it will communicate with the one in the hall by our bedrooms to let us know!!!

These are a good product whether individual or "3-pack". The wireless connection was exactly what we needed and these are on all 3 floors and connect without issue. Easy setup and install with one screw. Tested one set off, and it will set all 3 off. Which I think everyone needs because you are not going to hear an alarm 3 floors away while sleeping etc. Hoping that the technology does work in an actual event while sleeping, but I believe this is still the best bet (bang-for-buck) for safety. I still have all my other separate smoke and CO alars, and while I am not home, my Leeo device listens for alarms and calls me in an event. Do not mess around. For ~$100 (daily deal) it is worth it. Even regular price is worth saving a life and possibly a house/building.

Installed 8 of these in my home in the fall of 2016. All of them activated within seconds one time since then from kitchen smoke. They are loud and sensitive. The carbon monoxide detector has not activated yet and I hope it never does. Look for the 2 pack ($80) if purchasing these as opposed to $50 for a single unit. I feel good knowing these detectors are protecting my home. The batteries haven't been changed yet and no low battery indication so far. I will change them in all 8 units when the first one indicates such then annually after that. I highly recommend these to anyone replacing or a new install.

Setup was very simple. Testing went exactly as advertised. Pressing the test button on one unit made all units sound the alarms. Once installed in the house, the lit match test near one unit worked flawlessly. The unit detecting smoke sounded the alarm first and announced "fire detected". Immediately followed by all three other units giving the same alarm. I purchased 4 of these at one time to replace aging units. The price for the twin pack was quite low. Get some piece of mind and get these.

This is a follow up review. I originally had issues with the first one of these I bought but Home Depot and Kidde were quick with solutions. I like being able to have a push notification go to my smartphone if an alarm is triggered. Also it is very easy to set up in Wink. If you have more than one of these connected to a single wink hub they all show up as one unit.
