LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature that allows users to add external links to photos shared in posts.

This gives you another way to drive traffic to your website from your business’s LinkedIn page or your personal profile.

Geri Silver, Creator Manager at LinkedIn, shared an example of the new link sticker. In the screenshot below, you can see how a link can be added on to any photo:

It doesn’t look like there’s much variety when it comes to the design of link stickers, though the linked text is customizable. You can always add some emojis to avoid having the same generic-looking stickers on everything.

Availability & Usage Details

You can add link stickers to your photos and videos via the post creation tools in the LinkedIn mobile app.

You cannot add link stickers through the desktop interface. However, users on any platform can see and click on the links when they see the posts in their feed.

1Link stickers are rolling out to users in phases, which means some people will have access to it before others.

When you’re eligible to use it, you’ll see a chainlink icon button when creating a post in the LinkedIn mobile app.

How to add links to linkedin post

Businesses that use the LinkedIn social network to connect with other professionals can create posts on their profile or as a member of groups. LinkedIn does not include many formatting options for posts. You can add links, which results in a link title and description, which you can edit as needed. When making group posts, you can include a title in your posts. Both types of posts allow you to send them to your Twitter feed.

Status Update

  1. Click "Post an Update," which is located below your photograph on your Profile page. A text box with "Share an Update" appears.

  2. Click the text box and type your post.

  3. Click "Attach a Link" underneath the text box.

  4. Paste a website link that you want to include in the post in the "Add URL" text box and click "Attach." The link loads and a description appears below your post.

  5. Click "Edit" next to the link description. The title of the link and the link description appear in separate text boxes.

  6. Change the link title or description as needed and click the "Preview" button. The edited link appears under your post.

  7. Click the "Visible To" drop-down menu and select "Anyone," if your post is open to the public, or "Connections Only," if you only want to display the post with your connections.

  8. Click the box next to the Twitter icon to automatically add your post to your Twitter feed.

  9. Click the "Share" button to post your message.

Group Posts

  1. Click the "Discussion" text box on the group page. Two text boxes appear.

  2. Type a subject in the first text box. The subject line is written larger than the post message and is limited to 200 characters.

  3. Click the "Add More Details" text box and type your message.

  4. Click "Attach a Link," paste a website address that you want to share with the group and then click "Attach." The link, along with a description, appears below your post.

  5. Click "Edit" next to the link description to edit the link title or description. Click "Save" when you are finished editing.

  6. Click the box next to the Twitter logo to add the post to your Twitter feed.

  7. Click "Share" to post your message to the group.
