Why am I still producing mucus after cold?Mucus production is still winding down.
Just as your bronchial nerves take time to desensitize after a cold, your body's mucus-producing function (a healthy response to an infection) may still be returning to normal. This can cause some postnasal drip that triggers a cough.
What are the stages of mucus during a cold?During a common cold, nasal mucus may start out watery and clear, then become progressively thicker and more opaque, taking on a yellow or green tinge. This coloration is likely due to an increase in the number of certain immune system cells, or an increase in the enzymes these cells produce.
How do you know when a cold is getting better?Within 7–10 days , people will usually start to recover from a cold. Symptoms begin to ease up, and people will start feeling better. People may also find that they have more energy and are more able to carry out tasks as usual.
