Honda History

Honda first began back in 1948 when Japanese engineer Soichiro Honda started building his prototypes for what would eventually become fully realized motorcycles. It took only a decade for Honda and his engineering partner, Takeo Fujisawa, to establish the company as the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

Honda opened its first overseas subsidiary in 1959, the American Honda Motor Co. in Los Angeles, California. By 1968, they’d sold their one-millionth motorcycle in the US alone. They quickly became a major influence not only in supplying the market with exceptional machines but also in redefining the standard and constantly improving their products.

Since their initial launch into the motorcycle industry, Honda has added a number of other powersport vehicles to their lineup. In 2003, they released their first ATV and ten years later, they began production on the first side-by-side models. And this may only be the beginning. Who knows what’s in store in the decades to come?
