Mayonnaise Hair Mask Recipe

Make mayonnaise from scratch.

Homemade deep conditioner for natural hair growth with egg

This mayonnaise recipe has a strong flavour as we are using extra virgin Coconut oil/ Olive oil and hence is only suitable as a hair mask. (Not for edible purposes)

  • Eggs – 2 egg whites and 1 egg yolk
  • Coconut oil/Olive oil – 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tablespoon
  • Sea salt – 1/4 teaspoon

If you want a really fluffy and thick texture, use 2 egg whites only and skip the egg yolks.

If you prefer to add essential oils feel free to do that. You can add essential oils like Tea tree oil or Peppermint oil.

Fruit-Mayonnaise Hair Mask

You can blend fruits like banana or avocado, strain it and then, add the pulp to the mayonnaise.

I do not recommend mashing the fruits and adding it to the mayo as, getting rid of the chunks stuck in your hair will be a hassle. It will be a waste of time and water too.

How To Make Mayonnaise For Hair

I am going to make mayonnaise in a mixer grinder bowl using extra virgin olive oil.

Add 2 egg whites and 1 yolk to the bowl and blend it until smooth.

Next, add one tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar and blend again.

Now we have to slowly add the oil to this mixture. Pour less than a 1/4 cup of oil and pulse for 3-4 seconds to blend and then pause/stop.

Add the next quarter cup of oil and pulse it again.

Repeat until you get to the right consistency.

There you have it, Your DIY deep conditioner for natural hair is ready to use.

For a Fluffier Texture – Use 2 egg whites only.

Remember, To get the right consistency of mayonnaise, we have to pulse the oil-egg mixture and not blend continuously. SUPER IMPORTANT !!!

If you blend the mixture continuously, you will end up with a liquid mask and not a creamy mousse textured mask. Although i have to say that its texture will not affect its effectiveness at all.

Pulse Button – Some mixer have the knobs with numbers like 1,2,3 for each speed levels, right?

For pulse option, turn the knob the reverse direction(counter clockwise direction)

I hope you get the idea here.
