We strive to breed hedgehogs that are healthy, friendly, and easy to handle. Our hedgehogs are used in animal exhibits, shows, petting zoos, and as school pets all over the tri-state area. Most recently our hedgehogs have been added to programs at Philadelphia Zoo, Academy of Natural Sciences, Paws Farm, Garden State Discovery Museum, Liberty Science Center, Elmwood Park Zoo, Seaport Aquarium,House Paws "Vets In Training" Camp, Unique Creatures Animal Show, and Annie's Menagerie. Welcome to Kelly's Quills Hedgehogs I am a African pygmy hedgehog breeder in Slidell, LA. I started breeding in 2009 and I breed pet hedgehogs for temperament and health, first and foremost. Located in Phoenix, AZ. We have been Arizona's first hedgehog breeder since the Arizona Game & Fish Department amended their Article 4, Restricted Live Wildlife rules nearly 6 years ago. We have been operating as Arizona's longest USDA licensed breeder during that time. As well as the only Arizona breeder to be a member of the International Hedgehogs Association (IHA). Healthy and social hedgehogs are our goal. That's why we offer a health guarantee and lifetime support for
our babies. Our herd is registered with the (IHR) and has extensive healthy lineage from bloodlines all across the country from other reputable USDA licensed breeders. Can you buy a hedgehog in a pet shop?You usually can't find hedgehogs in the large chain stores like PetSmart, but many of the smaller independently owned pet stores have them. How can I get a pet hedgehog?To meet their exercise needs, pet hedgehogs need an enclosure large enough to accommodate an exercise wheel and space for natural foraging behavior. The enclosure also needs smooth sides (so the hedgehog isn't able to climb out) and a hiding spot for sleeping. A 2-foot by 3-foot enclosure is considered a minimum size.
Are hedgehogs in NJ?Hedgehogs were introduced to Jersey in the middle of the 19th century, around the same time as red squirrels. They have no natural predators in Jersey, as there are no badgers or foxes on the Island, but there are still many hazards for them to face. Rats, feral ferrets and dogs may attack them and even kill them.
Are hedgehogs legal in GA?It is currently not legal to own a hedgehog as a pet in the state of Georgia. Due to a few reasons including health risks and ecological concerns, they are included on the Georgia Department of Natural Resource's list of regulated exotic animals.
