How to Make Orange Creamsicle Soda

Step One: Pour in the Orange Soda

  • Fill your glasses with ice cubes.
  • Fill each glass at least 3/4 of the way full of orange soda.

Step Two: Add the Coffee Creamer

  • Slowly and gently pour the coffee creamer directly onto the ice to allow it to sit on top of the orange soda and create an ombre effect.
  • Garnish with the orange slices (navel oranges and blood oranges would both look pretty) and serve immediately.

Tips and Suggestions

  • Tilt your glass slightly when adding the coffee creamer to the orange soda. This will allow the creamer to flow down the side of the glass to sit gently on top, rather than splashing into the soda.
  • Chill your ingredients beforehand, but don’t make your sodas until right before you are ready to serve them. These are best enjoyed before the ice melts and dilutes the other ingredients.
  • If you don’t have any vanilla coffee creamer, you can use heavy cream or half and half instead. If using heavy cream or half and half, you can add a few drops of vanilla extract to your soda for the vanilla flavor.
  • Serve with a tall spoon or straw for stirring. The ombre effect is pretty for serving, but the drink will taste better if you stir it before drinking.

Variations

This recipe has almost endless variations, as the vanilla cream pairs well with lots of different flavors of sodas. Try any of these as a substitute:

  • Fruit flavored sodas like strawberry, cherry, grape, or pineapple would all be delicious.
  • Use plain cola for a drink that tastes like an ice cream soda or try root beer if you enjoy root beer floats.
  • Make this into an Italian cream soda by substituting soda water or sparkling water and orange syrup in place of the orange soda.

How Do I Serve Orange Creamsicle Soda?

  • Serve it after dinner as a tasty dessert or an accompaniment to your dessert.
  • It makes a great poolside drink to have with a fresh fruit snack.
  • Serve it as a non-alcoholic option at happy hour along with some salty snacks.

How Do I Store Orange Creamsicle Soda?

Much like an ice cream soda or an Italian soda, this drink is meant to be consumed immediately, so I don’t recommend storing it. It’s easiest to make it one glass at a time, as needed.
