How I tested the top automatic hair curlers for short hair?

I have short fine hair so I used these curlers on my own bob to test out how well it works on short hair. I also rated them on a scale of 1-5 on the basis of the certain factors that I’ve mentioned below:

• Ease of Curling – I first checked if the barrels of the curling irons/rotating curlers are suited to short hair and if they can curl this length of hair easily.
• Damage Control – I also checked if the products were gentle on hair and if they contained multiple heat settings or ceramic technology that usually helps reduce heat on hair.
• Functionality – Lastly, I checked for other features in the hair curler like dual voltage system, automatic shut off, length of cord, etc. to name a few and then rated them accordingly.

Instyler max 2-way Rotating Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener and Styler

I reviewed this product first as I was intrigued by it’s versatility. This is a 2-in-1 product that can make your hair straight or curly in a matter of time. 

So I thought why not save a few bucks and get a straightener and curler for my short hair.

And I’m glad I did because this product gave my hair salon-worthy finish in a very short time.

Although the product is a little bulky, it has two features, the rounded rotating barrel and ionic bristles that make it efficient for curling your hair.

I liked that the central tourmaline ceramic barrel regulates the heat on the machine as I have kind of fine hair and too much heat just fries my locks.

I’m also a fan of the ionic bristles as they made sure that my hair looked shiny and lustrous after curling. You’ve got the negative ion technology to thank for that!  

Also, I found using this styler to be quite simple. Just wrap a section of your hair on the barrel and use the ionic bristles to set it in place.

However, I have to add that thicker hair might have problem with the curling feature as the brush might cause tangles if not used properly.

Now coming to the temperature, the styler provides you with four heat setting options, 285° F, 315°F, 385°F and 425°F.

I used the lowest one for my fine, fragile hair. However, if you are someone who finds it difficult to style your medium dense thick hair, you can turn up the heat.

My forgetful self was also glad of the automatic shut-off feature. And I give it bonus points since it saves time and gets heated up in 30 seconds.

All in all, I think this is a great curler if you have thin hair and if you want both a styler and curler in one body.

Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Professional Curl Machine

I got this automatic hair curler as Babyliss is one of the best brands in the market for hair styling tools.

On using I found that although it has a very bulky and intimidating look, you can easily create gorgeous curls using this one. 

I really liked the brush motor function as it helped keep my hair frizz-free curls without causing any kind of damage or breakage.

To use it you simply need to put a section of your hair into the Nano titanium Curl chamber. As your hair gets into the chamber, the MiraCurl catches it and curls your hair automatically. 

Now I absolutely love how it saves me time as I don’t have to section my hair and go over it one by one with a curling iron!

But I guess the best feature of this product is the that you can select the type of curls you want since it comes with three style options, loose waves, soft swirls or well-defined curls. 

It does have a titanium barrel instead of a ceramic one so it gets heated up very quickly and to a greater extent.

So I had to use a lower heat setting while trying it on my fine hair.

However, it should suit you fine if you have thick hair.

You can always adjust the various heat settings as they can go upto 450° F. Then there’s the steam technology in the device makes sure that your hair is moisturised at all times. 

But I kind of didn’t like using it with the steam on as I felt it reduced the volume in my curls.

I have to warn you thought that this product is not travel friendly. Firstly, its very bulky and it also doesn’t come with a dual voltage feature.

Pros:

• Adds volume to hair and prevents frizz thanks to the negative ion technology
• Good for thick hair as it can heat up to higher temperatures

Cons:

• Bulky to use and not travel-friendly

• Is not suited for thin, damaged hair as it’s got a titanium barrel that gets heated too quickly and too much

CHI Spin-n-Curl Hair Curler

I really wanted to use this CHI auto rotating hair curler as I was intrigued by the concept. You see it catches a section of your hair on to the curling chamber and twists it on the device to curl it.

Ah! Now this is what lazy girls like me dream of!

So did the reality match my expectations? Well, it sure did.

What I loved most about this device is that it takes extreme care to make sure that your curls are well protected as it gives you 3 pre-set temperature options depending on hair thickness.

I obviously used the lowest one for my fine hair (370°F) but you can actually go upto 410°F if you’re not satisfied.

Another thing I liked is that the automatic hair curler has a ceramic coating barrel with a smooth surface. This helps in preventing any kind of tangles that they might occur. 

Now I’d like to add here that despite this smooth barrel your hair will get caught in it if it’s too long. So if you have a “lob” haircut or longer hair sections use it with caution.

One interesting feature I saw in this CHI curler is that it alerts you when a section of hair didn’t come out smoothly so you can make sure that you are doing an accurate job. 

And I thought this was really innovative!

What suprised me most is that despite being almost half the price of the Babyliss hair curler it comes with almost twice the features. There’s a digital temperature display, automatic shut-off and far-infrared heat technology.

And the best part is that it’s travel friendly due to the dual voltage.

Pros:

• Dual voltage system makes it easy to use in different countries while traveling
• Auto shut-off feature makes sure your safe
• Smooth inner ceramic surface prevents tangles
• Three temperature settings helps you regulate heat on different hair textures

Cons:

• Not suitable for longer bobs or shoulder length hair

This automatic hair curler is similar to the Miracurl automatic hair curler and it comes with a brussels motor. The brand has an “Auto-curl technology” that lets you curl your hair easily. 

The curler has a tourmaline ceramic curler that makes sure that your hair is perfectly heated and curled with accurate timing.

You can easily get a hang of this with continuous use and you can easily curl your hair easily and effortlessly in minutes. 

The styling tool is also fairly simple to use and it rotates in different directions. The ceramic tool helps in delivering heat to the section of the hair to ensure bouncy and shiny curls. 

This device comes with two heat settings, six timer settings and three curl directions.

This automatic hair curler is also easy to maintain and clean. It comes with a chamber cleaning tool that helps you to remove ant dust, strands, buildups, products, etc. that might have been stuck to the device after usage.
