Average credit limit for capital one platinum card

Capital One Platinum Credit Card vs. Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa®

For someone rebuilding credit, the Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa® is a potential alternative. It offers a 26.99% variable APR on purchases and earns 5% cash-back rewards on the first $5,000 of eligible gas, grocery, internet, cable, satellite TV, and mobile phone service purchases each year, then 1% thereafter. All other purchases earn 1%. The card does carry an annual fee of $95 and a low initial credit limit. Many customers will find the fee structure difficult to look past even after considering the ability to earn cash back.

Capital One Platinum Credit Card vs. Discover it® Student Cash Back

If you’re relatively new to credit cards, the Discover it® Student Cash Back card may compare favorably to the Capital One Platinum. It carries no annual fee and offers 5% cash back on everyday purchases at different places each quarter like Amazon.com, grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations, up to the quarterly maximum once activated. Plus, automatically earn unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases.

Additionally, at the end of a new cardholder’s first year Discover will provide a dollar-for-dollar match on all cash back earned. Remember, the Capital One Platinum does not provide any cash back.

Capital One Platinum Credit Card vs Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card

There’s another Capital One product to consider: the Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card. The rate and benefits are similar to that of the Platinum, though the QuicksilverOne offers 1.5% cash back on all purchases. It would take $2,600 in spending to offset the $39 annual fee. If you can meet that expense threshold, the QuicksilverOne is the better option. Also, the cash-back benefit is versatile: it may be redeemed as a check or statement credit or cover a recent eligible purchase.

Rebuilding My Credit Scores

Credit Karma Member

This is my first unsecured credit card since declaring bankruptcy. I had to apply twice before getting approved for it. The first time, I didn't meet their Income threshold. The second time, I was approved for a 500 limit. Still too soon to see any major changes to my Scores 601 to 607, as of August 2022.

DONT APPLY

Card was okay for my small limit of $500. I would pay it off in full everytime I used it to avoid debt. Not even 2 months after having the card, they closed the account unexpectedly which dropped my credit score over 70 points. I was new to building credit so this really hurt my score. Now I am rebuilding my credit score below average at 650. Stay away!

Okay

They give you a credit card and then they punish you for using it every time you use it your credit goes down you make on Time payments and you're score still goes down, why do they give you a limit if you're not allowed to use it again you get punished for having a credit card and you get punished for making lunchtime payments

DO NOT APPLY!

I'm disabled with seizures and it took me years to rebuild my credit. In 2021 I finally got my score up to 720 and applied for this card. I was approved, but after I looked closer at the interest rate I decided not to proceed with the deposit. Well guess what? Simply changing my mind dropped my credit score ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN points! My credit is ruined! All I did was change my mind and years of hard work and responsible payments were flushed down the toilet. Disgusting!

Raising my score

I got this credit card through Experian and it was to raise my credit score it didn’t. It actually went down.

So far so good

Credit Karma Member

Credit karma said I had poor chances of getting approved but applied anyways and was approved with $1,000 limit and my credit score was in the 560's I also have capital one secured card of $200 and pay that off multiple times a month so I don't know if that helped me get this unsecured card or not but either way I was approved with a low credit score

Denied!

This card helped me fix my credit

This card literally saved my finances. When was younger I didn't care about credit, racked up collections and my score was abysmal. I didn't use credit for sometime and my score leveled off to 600. This was the second card I applied for (PayPal Credit approved me first) and since I've had it, and used it responsibly my score has gone up 200 points. Thanks to this card, and Capital One for giving me a chance at redemption. I now have excellent credit and don't use this card much anymore, but if you're in a similar situation like I was, and just need someone to give you a chance... This is the card for you. They will give you a low credit limit, but just buy or pay one bill a month with it, and you'll see your credit on the uptick within a few months!

Great credit builder

My credit was pretty rough but I was able to get approved for $500. I rarely use the card so the balances are always $0 or close to so this has been helping rebuild my credit.

Excellent Card

Credit Karma Member

Credit karma said poor chance of approval and with a lower 600's credit score was approved for several thousand dollar limit. Not the best rewards card but excellent limit and positively effected my credit score right away. Highly recommend. Great capital one app as well.
