I'm not certain there's an NSS on a manual trans... What happens when you jump it off another running vehicle? Joined May 8, 2014 · 6 Posts Joined May 8, 2014 · 6 Posts
Discussion Starter · #5 · May 8, 2014 Let me rephrase that. Nothing happens any different than if it's not being jumped. And as far as the NSS is concerned im not sure that is the right term for the part. Joined Mar 19, 2013 · 1,791 Posts
So when you turn the key to start, nothing? No crank? Any clicking? With a new battery with sufficient CCAs, you should be able to at least get the starter solenoid engaged and crank. That's why I was asking about jump starting. You said you replaced the battery- are the terminals nice and clean? No chance you've got an OBD2 scanner? If
hooked up in the on position, you should be able to hit monitor mode and see the voltage and maybe any any stored codes that would help point you in the right direction. Joined May 8, 2014 · 6 Posts
Discussion Starter · #7 · May 9, 2014 I'll have a scanner Saturday. I also took a multimeter to the battery and it registered 12.66 V, and the terminals are nice and pretty. I think the only sound I got was a faint whine from in the engine. Joined Oct 15, 2013 · 109 Posts
check your fuses under the hood on the nnbs they have a DLIS 2 amp fuse that will not let them crank if blown one more thing right before trying to crank position 2 in the ignition key do you hear the fuel pump turn on ? swap relays and test lol maybe you have a stuck relay Joined Apr 24, 2014 · 163 Posts
With the voltage drop it sounds more like a ground or dead short problem? Joined May 8, 2014 · 6 Posts

Have you checked your clutch pedal position sensor? It's probably bad and not letting the truck crank! Can you bypass neutral safety switch? This switch keeps your vehicle from starting in gear, and is important for the function of the vehicle. They keep children left alone in the car from starting it up in gear, and also guard against similar surprises after accidents. To make it short, this is a safety mechanism and should never be bypassed.
How do you manually test a neutral safety switch?Put the gear to Park, then try to start. If you notice the engine not cranking, step on the brake, then try starting in Neutral. If the engine starts, then the neutral safety switch has gone bad.
