What are you doing, the pedal or the throttle body
Why
I ask b/c both don't fail together :duh: The TPS is part of the throttle body assembly...not serviceable  Joined Feb 26, 2006 · 2,024 Posts
Sounds like you are referring to the throttle pedal position sensor (TPPS). Like Pro- says, the throttle position sensors, of which their are two, are integrated with the throttle body. You could probably try to open them up and clean the wipers and boards on all of them, but I'm not sure of the success rate on these. Joel 2002 chevy trailblazer_lt Joined Sep 13, 2006 · 51 Posts

Did you get a code
If so, what is it
Post the code (if there is one) & we'll brain storm the proper diagnostics for you. If no code, How do you know/what lead you to the conclusion that the TPS is reading low voltage on accelleration

Discussion Starter · #6 · Apr 3, 2007 There was no code that came up. The mechanic running the codes noticed that this was a problem with the voltage drop reading on the Throttle Positioning Sensor. 2006 chevy trailblazer_lt Joined Jan 15, 2007 · 3,497 Posts

Have you removed the throttle body and thoroughly cleaned all of the carbon out of it? Common symptom of a clogged fuel filter...if not done in a while, it's something to do  The 2 sensors in the throttle body are a redundant system, if 1 fails the other will still give a signal. If you do not have any codes, I doubt you have a
problem with one of the TPS sensors. Are you sure your mechanic is familiar with this system? It doesn't operate like the TPS on a cabled throttle body  I would start with the two steps above before any other repairs  Joined Feb 26, 2006 · 2,024 Posts
Usually driving between 45 and 65 the truck has a tendency to pull back or it feels like its down shifting. If you have a APPS or TPS problem, you will get the "reduced engine power" dash light and almost no driveability. The truck will fast idle, that's about it. Ok, well.......I am noticing a voltage drop, but I get an error code that doesn't really fit a voltage drop. I get error code: P0410 .....Which seems to be something that is covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty. Is it possible that this error code could be giving me a voltage drop? Awesome thread. Thnx goes out to all who posted here. it helped me out and this thing is 6 months old...:thx What are the symptoms of a faulty throttle position sensor?Symptoms of a Faulty Throttle Position Sensor. An unexplainable bucking and jerking in the vehicle.. Sudden idle surges.. Sudden engine stalling without any apparent reason.. Hesitation while accelerating.. Sudden surges in speed while driving on the highway.. Intermittently flashing of check engine light for no apparent reason.. What happens when a throttle position sensor fails?#2 – Weak Acceleration
A bad throttle position sensor means the engine control unit cannot manage the throttle position properly. The engine won't be able to receive the proper amount of air because of this. Whenever you go to accelerate your vehicle under these conditions, the acceleration will be very weak.
How do you reset the throttle position sensor? The easiest way to reset your throttle position sensor is to unhook the negative cable from your battery for up to five minutes or to remove the fuse for your engine control module.
Does TPS affect idle?Uneven Idle
If your car can't maintain a constant engine speed when it's sitting still, your TPS may be on its way out. A constant level of fuel delivery is necessary to maintain a steady idle.
