Recommended oil for 1999 Honda Accord

Hi everybdy, This is my first post here. I bought my used 1999 honda accord in sept, 2005. So far, everything is going good. No problems. I will be leaving my accord for a oil change 2moro. But Iam not sure what oil is recommended for a 1999 honda accord. Also I live in Michigan. So we have severe winter here. Does that matter when i choose my oil?. I will be greateful if someone can help me with this.
Advance thanks

Cheers!

RE: Recommended oil for 1999 Honda Accord

I believe Honda called for 5W30 in '99 models, check with a dealer. I guess the other poster meant synthetic oil (syntatic?). I would NOT use synthetic in a car that is seven years old even though you didn't state the mileage. Why? You're simply not going to get the benefit unless it has been on a steady synthetic diet its whole life. It's possible that a few leaks could show up too, stick with 5W30 regular oil, assuming 5W30 is correct.

you car does call for 5w-30, and mobil one blue top is just that. the recommended oil for your car is the kind that you change every 3000 miles. but.....people that care about their vehicles, use only the best fuels and lubricants.

Thanks friends, I successfully finished servicing my car. I did go for 5W30 in Walmart. Total service fee came upto 22$. I always run my vehicle on premium fuel. So far, i have been taking good care of the vehicle. Anyway, thanks guys for all your help.

Cheers!

What kind of oil does a 1999 Honda Accord 4 cylinder take?

Viscosity.

What type of oil do I put in my Honda Accord?

American Honda recommends using Honda Genuine Motor Oil, sold and available at Honda dealers . If Honda Genuine Motor Oil is not used, conventional motor oil of a premium-grade or an ultimate full synthetic blend may be used and must contain the specified viscosity grade indicated in your Owner's Manual.

How much oil does a 1999 Honda Accord take?

Without filter 4.2 quarts After refill check oil level. With filter 4.6 quarts After refill check oil level.

Can you put 5W

In general, it is not recommended that you use 5w30 oil (or any other oil weight) in place of 5w20 oil, as the slightest difference in viscosity can potentially damage your engine.
