My key wont unlock any doors on my 96 Coupe EX

I just recently bought the 1996 civic coupe EX. When I got home I realized the keys do not unlock or lock the doors from the outside of the car. The power locks inside the car works fine to unlock/lock doors.

The car doesnt seem to have had an alarm installed, I believe this has to be an issue with the factory keyless? It doesnt have a factory radio so I know the keyless will not work regardless but how can I lock the car if I cannot unlock it?

Do the keys fail to turn the locks?

Also check whether the stock radio is tucked behind the center console.

No, the key goes perfectly in the cylinder and turns both ways, it just doesnt do anything.

Im pretty sure the stock radio isnt behind the center console since the dome light (celing light) doesnt work and thats also a feature connected to factory radio. I know thats a quick fix, but why wont my doors lock/unlock?

Remove the driver's door panel, unplug the 4P connector for the driver's door lock actuator, and then ground the Blu/Wht wire in the 4P connector. Does the passenger door lock?

Does it lock via the key or the power lock button inside the car?

Not sure what you are asking.

You have the wrong keys, just because you can turn insert doesn't mean it is the right key.

Contact the seller and see if they have right keys?

Wait, does the key start the car?

either you have the wrong keys, the linkage within the door panel is disconnected/broken, or the solenoid that locks and unlocks your door is bunk.

1. The cylinder turns so you are mechanically unlocking the pins allowing it to turn; you have the right key.

2. The electric locks should not have any effect on the function of the mechanical locks; if the key turns then the door should unlock.

It sounds like the linkage between the cylinder and the lock is disconnected; it might be for theft prevention or something along those lines.

I agree. The electrical part of the driver's lock actuator that works through the key also must be disabled. That's what I was chasing.

You probably have the wrong keys unless there's damage inside the door panel

Why won't my car key unlock my door?

If it unlocks the door, the problem may be a weak battery in the key fob, or a problem in the keyless entry antenna or wiring. The key fob itself could be defective or have a bad unlock button. Try the lock button, trunk release button or panic button. If the other buttons work, the problem is a bad unlock button.

Why wont my Honda key open the door?

Your door keys fail to function properly for a few reasons, including damaged locks and keys, lack of lubrication, worn-out fob batteries, frozen locks, etc.

Why is my Honda Civic key not working?

The most common reasons a Honda Civic key won't turn are a binding steering column/lock, an ignition switch issue, or a problem with the ignition key.
