Demon slayer season 2 release date nz netflix

Demon Slayer is almost back for its second season, but before the anime returns it will get a brief arc that recuts the Mugen Train movie into seven episodes. This arc will start on Oct. 10, while Demon Slayer season 2 will be released on Dec. 5.

Update (Oct. 7): Crunchyroll has released a new promo trailer for Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc and the official season 2 Entertainment District arc.

Demon Slayer’s return to the Mugen Train arc won’t be exactly what fans saw in theaters. Instead, the short prequel arc will try to seamlessly bridge the gap between the anime’s first and second seasons by expanding the movie into seven separate episodes with several new scenes. The arc will also include an entirely original episode that takes place before the events of the movie.

As for Demon Slayer’s actual second season, it will start off with a special hour-long episode when it premieres on Sunday, Dec. 5. The anime’s second season will follow the events of the manga’s Entertainment District arc, which will introduce the series’ latest major demon, Daki.

For now, Funimation has announced that the Mugen Train arc will be available to stream on the Funimation website along with Hulu and Crunchyroll. Season 2 will also be available to stream on Funimation and Crunchyroll.

It’s no wonder then, that fans could barely wait for the second season of the hit anime show, which premiered earlier in December.

Adapted from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga series, season two picks up where the first left off, following the ongoing battle between teen Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon King behind his parents’ gruesome murder: Muzan Kibutsuji.

The season also sees the core protagonists travel to Yoshiwara, Japan’s red-light district, to track down a demon that has been causing chaos in the area.

Ahead of season two’s release, Fuji TV responded to concerns that the setting was inappropriate for an anime that a lot of young children are going to want to watch. “In regards to content for [Demon Slayer Season two], it was subject to the usual examination, but we intend to broadcast it without making any changes," Yuriko Nakamura, head of programming at Fuji TV, said.

Demon Slayer season 2 plot

The second season follows on from where the film ended and continues adapting the manga in its forthcoming episodes.

Tengen Uzui, who has the special ability to command sound, is a major part of the second season.

The second season adapts the fan-favourite Entertainment District Arc from the manga, which follows Tanjiro to Japan’s red-light district in order to track down a demon that has been causing havoc in the area. As you'd expect, that arc contains some suggestive content, though the season has passed Japanese standards and practices without any changes to the original story.

The season also delves deeper into the mythology of the Hashira.

What is Demon Slayer: Mugen Train about?

The feature film sequel to the first season of Demon Slayer carries on from the end of the last episode with Tanjirou and Nezuko carrying out a mission on a train, investigating how and why 40 people have disappeared from the passenger carrier in recent years. The culprit turns out to be a sleep-manipulating demon who has the power to stop people from ever waking back up.
