It's been two years since QuikTrip announced the gas station chain will be expanding into Colorado. Since then, the company has been hard at work securing locations throughout the state.

According to the Greeley Tribune, we now know of one location in Northern Colorado and another proposed location that has not been finalized. Oklahoma-based QuikTrip has planned 70 locations in the state of Colorado and currently has 30 of those locations marked out. Several of those locations are planned to be located in Northern Colorado.

The first Northern Colorado location will be located in Firestone at Interstate 25 and Highway 119. The location for the second confirmed QuikTrip is located in Denver at Interstate 70 and Central Park Boulevard. Both of these QuikTrip locations are expected to open in the spring of 2022.
Where will the second QuikTrip location in Northern Colorado be? At this point, it is a toss-up between either Evans or Mead. The Greeley Tribune states that the Weld County Clerk and Recorder's filings for QuikTrip paid $10.7 million on August 4 for a four-acre property located near Interstate 25 and Highway 66 in Mead.
The Evans location is still in the process and has not closed. Speculation is that the Evans location would be on the northeast corner of U.S. Highway85 and 31st Street where the Stampede Truck Plaza and Double Clutch Cafe are located.
Other proposed Colorado locations for QuikTrip include Aurora, Westminster, Parker, and Lakewood. Currently, the closest Quiktrip locations closest to Colorado are in Kansas City and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A new QuikTrip travel center could move in across the street from Love’s Travel Stop in southern Dayton.
QuikTrip has about 918 retail locations across 15 states, but none are located in Ohio. The closest store is in Illinois.
“QuikTrip has been focused on expanding the footprint of our travel center network to geographies in the U.S. that leverage our distribution network,” said Aisha Jefferson-Smith, a spokeswoman for the QuikTrip Corp. “QuikTrip is currently in the early planning stages of this development.”
QuikTrip plans to construct a new 8,292-square-foot convenience store and fueling station on a parking lot near the intersection of Cincinnati Street and Edwin C. Moses Boulevard, according to city planning documents.
The 6-acre site at 1428 Cincinnati St. is just east of the Love’s Travel Stop, which opened in 2013.
The project calls for eight double-sided fuel pumps for consumers and six fueling lanes for semi-trucks, as well as a truck scale.
The project is consistent with a planned development for the former Delphi automotive plant at 1515 Cincinnati St. and related parking lot at 1428 Cincinnati St., according to a Dayton Plan Board staff report.
The plan board recently approved the development plan, with some modifications.
IRG II owns the site. The company purchased more than 50 acres of Delphi’s property around 1515 Cincinnati St. more than a decade ago.
Travel centers, which are open 24/7, are much larger than QuikTrip’s standard convenience stores, according to Convenience Store News.
QuikTrip locations have kitchens that sell pizza, sub sandwiches, wraps and grab-and-go items.
“The Travel Center has room to service 20 cars for gas and six diesel bays for trucks,” Jefferson-Smith said. “The store will be equipped with an expanded QT kitchens that offer made fresh-to-order food and drink items, we will also offer grab and go freshly crafted sandwiches, salads, and wraps that will occupy your taste buds, or spoil yourself with our scrumptious donuts and pastries.”
