2001 Accord pressure power steering hose removal

I have a 2001 Accord LX 4 cylinder VTEC. My question is once you have the high pressure hose disconnected how do you remove the hose from the car. Or what is the easiest way to do this. Figured I would ask before tearing unneeded items from the vehicle.

Re: 2001 Accord pressure power steering hose removal

To get the rack side of the hose(#4) it may be easiest to remove/install it from the bottom. Getting around the intake can be cumbersome.

1. Remove the 2 bolts holding the pressure hose on top of the power steering pump.
2. You should be able to reach and unbolt one of the brackets (red arrow) holding the rubber bushing attached to the hose near the top.
3. Jack up car and place a large drain pan underneath near the steering rack.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the power steering pressure switch (blue arrow is power steering pressure switch, which is attached to pressure hose at the green arrow). You will re-use the pressure switch, so get a new o-ring; but, remove the switch after you removed the hose.
5. Unbolt the second bracket (red arrow) holding the rubber bushings attached to the hose which is closer to the steering rack.
6. Then disconnect the pressure hose fitting connected to the steering rack. A flare-nut wrench (also known as a line wrench) will help, as it grips more sides of the fitting. But, a regular wrench will work too; just be careful not to round off the fitting.

You will see most of this after you jack up the car.

Can you replace your own power steering hose?

Place a drain pan under the pressure hose connection at the steering rack or gearbox. Using a flare nut wrench, loosen and remove the pressure hose fittings from the steering rack / gearbox and the power steering pump. Install the new power steering pressure hose, making sure to route it the same as the old hose.

How much does it cost to replace power steering pressure line?

Cost To Replace a Power Steering Hose at the Mechanic: $300 to $800. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, this repair can take between 45 minutes and two hours.

Can you repair a high pressure power steering hose?

The power steering hose repair (or transmission hose, AC hose, etc.) requires the following steps: Cut off the steel fittings (the bent tube part) from the old power steering hose assembly. Replace the rubber hose part with a new hose assembly (Ferrul-Fix fitting crimped on both ends)

How do you change a power steering hose on a 2000 Honda Accord?

Once you have, follow these steps:.
Remove the 10mm bolts on top of the pressure hose and on the brackets that hold the hose..
Remove the hose and try not to bend it!.
Transfer the pressure switch..
Install the new hose and again, be careful not to bend it..
Reinstall the 10mm bolts..
